About Dragonfly Equine Medical Services
Cheryl Ann Rusin, DVM
Dr. Rusin completed her pre-requisite
courses at Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City, MI
and the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL. After
being accepted to both the UF and Michigan State University
veterinary schools, she chose to attend the University of
Florida College of Veterinary Medicine (Go Gators!) considering
their excellent large animal program and focus on equine
medicine and surgery.
Dr. Cheryl has practiced in the greater
Eustis, Florida, area since 2002 and started her own practice in
2007. She continues to concentrate on providing competent,
compassionate care for horses of all types, sizes and
disciplines as well as education and support for owners.
Dragonfly Equine Medical Services is a family-owned and operated business. Dr.
Cheryl Ann Rusin is assisted by husband Scott.
The Rusin’s have two sons, David and Daniel, and about 45
animals of their own including horses, donkeys, goats,
ducks, chickens, dogs and cats. We look forward
to meeting your horse, llama, alpaca, donkey or burro.
Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist
After graduation from vet
school, Dr. Rusin studied equine acupuncture under Huisheng
Xie, DVM, PhD. at the Chi Institute of Chinese
Medicine in Reddick, FL.
After hundreds of hours of
instruction in Chinese Five Element theory, Zang-Fu
diagnoses, hands-on lab and an in-depth case study, Cheryl
earned the title of Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist
presented by the Chi Institute of Chinese Medicine and the
China National Society of Traditional Chinese Veterinary
Medicine in Beijing, China. She practices
complimentary medicine in that she tries to incorporate
Eastern theory and technique with Western/Conventional
medicine and therapy for the health of your horse.
